SunDial

Continuing strongly on our principles regarding the academic inclusion of all students in a creatively freeing environment, the 5th Lykeio of Kavala took on yet another project with the participation of students of various classes from our school. Embracing a more scientific approach, we built an analemmatic sundial in our school yard.

The students used simple geometrical tools to construct it, while also learning about the properties of light, the rotation of the earth around the sun and the capabilities of taking advantage of this periodic phenomenon to count time. This project combines scientific and artistic elements, as the students also had to draw to bring it to life, and this way it includes all their different abilities.
